- What sports does Plays Manager support?#
- Every sport includes a planner. Football has the unit-based rotation planner: series, in-series substitutions, play counts per half, spotter sheets and minimum-play warnings. Baseball/softball has the lineup planner: inning-by-inning defensive grids, batting order with bench tracking, fairness rules and printable lineup cards. Soccer and basketball have minutes-based planners: formation or position slots, sub windows per period, and minimum-minutes tallies. All four sports also include roster management, CSV import, printable exports, and saved plans.
- Is there an app that makes sure every kid gets their minimum playing time?#
- Yes — that is the core of Plays Manager. The football planner counts plays per half for every athlete and flags anyone below your league's minimum (four plays per half by default) before you print. The baseball/softball planner tracks innings played and infield innings against your league's rule (for example, two infield innings per player). The soccer and basketball planners tally minutes per athlete so nobody sits too long. In every sport, athletes short of the minimum are highlighted while you plan — not after the game.
- How does Plays Manager handle my league's playing-time minimum in football?#
- The football planner counts plays per half for every athlete and flags anyone below the minimum (four plays per half by default) before you print. Injured athletes are excluded from the requirement automatically.
- Can I plan substitutions inside a series instead of swapping a whole unit?#
- Yes. Add a sub at the start of a series or after any play, sub for a sub, and bring a pulled starter back later in the same series. Play counts recalculate instantly and exports list each swap on its own line with jersey numbers.
- How do I import my roster?#
- Download the CSV template from your team's roster page and fill in
number,name,position,unit,injured. Upload it and Plays Manager creates every athlete — no retyping. See Support for the full format. - Can my assistant coaches see the plans?#
- Plans live in your account, so anyone signed in with your account sees the same plans, rosters and team default. Shared staff accounts with individual logins are on the roadmap — tell us if you need it.
- Do I need a credit card for the free trial?#
- No. The 14-day trial starts as soon as you create an account and requires no payment details.
- What happens if I do not subscribe when the trial ends?#
- Your account becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted — you can still open, print and export every plan and roster, and editing unlocks the moment you subscribe.
- What does Plays Manager cost, and is there a free trial?#
- Plays Manager is $9.99/month or $99/year (two months free) after a 14-day free trial that requires no credit card. One membership includes every planner, the Play Designer and playbooks, printable exports and roster tools — there are no add-ons. See Pricing.
- How do I cancel?#
- From your account page, in two clicks. Access continues to the end of the paid month and you are not charged again. See our Terms.
- Is athlete information safe?#
- Rosters are visible only to your account, protected by database-level access rules, and never sold or used for advertising. Enter only what you need — most coaches use first initial, last name, jersey number and position. Read our Privacy Policy.
- Does Plays Manager work on my phone at the field?#
- Yes — Plays Manager is a responsive web app, so it works in any modern mobile or desktop browser with no install. A standalone app may follow later.
- Can I print everything for a spotter or parent volunteer?#
- Yes. The spotter sheet is a single landscape page with checkboxes for each athlete's plays in each half, colour-coded by offense unit, sorted alphabetically by last name inside each position group.
- Can I print a lineup card or field-rotation sheet for game day?#
- Yes. Baseball/softball gets a printable lineup card with batting order, inning-by-inning defensive grid and bench tracking — add your team logo and coach name. Football gets a rotation plan with series, units and in-series substitutions, plus per-unit depth charts. Soccer and basketball print the formation lineup with sub windows and minute totals. Every sheet exports to PDF and CSV.
- Does Plays Manager work for soccer and basketball, not just football?#
- Yes. Soccer plans formations (7v7, 9v9 or 11v11), sub windows per half and per-player minute totals. Basketball plans quarter stints with five-on-the-floor lineups and balanced minutes. Both use the same roster, fairness warnings and printable exports as football and baseball/softball — everything is included in the standard membership.
- Are Playbooks and the Play Designer included in the $9.99 plan?#
- Yes. They are included in the standard $9.99/month or $99/year membership at no extra charge. You get a freehand designer for football, basketball and soccer — player markers, routes, blocks, motion, zones and notes — plus playbooks with sections, formations and tags. Print a full playbook, a compact six-up book or a sideline call sheet, export a playbook file, or share one with another coach by code.
